
The NCSPOD Achievement Awards provide an important opportunity for members to acknowledge the positive difference individuals are making in the lives of others at their colleges across the North American continent. The nomination process for the 2010 NCSPOD Achievement Awards is now open with the deadline of April 1. Descriptions of the awards are listed below along with a link to the Award Nomination Form. Consider recognizing a institution or an individual and celebrating the incredible work our colleagues do to help our institutions meet the many challenges that face us all.
Nominees will be notified by email with the selection and notification process completed in late spring. The Awards will be presented at the 33rd Annual Conference in October 2010 in Vancouver BC Canada. For information contact Patsy Lemaster, 2010 NCSPOD Awards Coordinator
Institutional members of NCSPOD are encouraged to nominate a faculty or staff member or administrator who best exemplifies professional development at their institution. This new annual award recognizes those who best exemplify professional development at their institution. Through achievements such as:
completing professional development programs;
representing their college at conferences;
presenting at professional conferences or events;
attending and promoting professional development opportunities;
creating innovations in professional development;
and/or helping promote professional development.
Every NCSPOD institutional member will be able to honor one member from its community annually. This award will be presented to each recipient at the annual international NCSPOD conference in the Fall.
This is your opportunity to recognize a deserving employee at your institution before an international audience of staff, faculty and organizational developers. Please address any questions or correspondence about his award to Santo Rizzo, Vice President from the Northeastern Region, who is coordinating this recognition opportunity.
Institutional Merit Award recognizes excellence in the delivery and impact of staff, program and organizational development programs and in the promotion of these outstanding programs. Evaluation criteria include program objectives, creativity/innovation, impact, and evaluation of outcomes.
John Fry Individual Merit Awards recognize individuals who have made outstanding contributions to staff, program, and organizational development in a region, state, province, or local program. This award is for an individual's activities that assist others in our profession to become more proficient. Evaluation is based on the contributions to a local, state, provincial or regional staff, program, and organizational development program, especially including activities that assist others in our field to conduct more effective programming,
The Helen Burnstad National Leadership Award recognizes an individual who has made significant contributions in writing, research, leadership or advocacy that promotes the goals of staff, program and/or organizational development at the national or international level.
Innovation Awards recognize achievement in a program, project, or event that demonstrates innovative ideas, adaptations, activities, or approaches that enhance the effectiveness of staff, program and/or organizational development.
College president's/Chancellor's Award recognizes a college president or chancellor for outstanding leadership in support of SPOD activities. The support for staff, program, and organzational development can occur in a variety of ways and at a variety of levels (institutional, regional, national or international).
The Education for Sustainability Award recognizes the innovations and successes of our members who have integrated sustainable development (environmental, economic, social or cultural) into education and learning.

In addition, each region supports at least one scholarship for conference attendance each year. For information about these scholarship opportunities, please contact your regional VP.
