EXECUTIVE DIRECTOR OF ORGANIZATIONAL LEARNING

MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Provide overall leadership and direction for the Learning Academy for Faculty and Staff and oversee and support the operational needs of the core areas represented by the Learning Academy (Teaching and Learning, Wellness, Teaching & Learning with Technology, Enrichment, Staff Learning and Rewards & Recognition), which includes operational support for training and facilitation: logistics, resource allocation, and planning; business impact analysis: evaluating the effectiveness of learning solutions).
- Manages, oversees, and supports internal staff development, quality management, organizational development and training services through the college’s Learning Academy for Faculty and Staff to ensure highest possible standards of quality, consistency, and repeatability in curriculum offerings.
- Work with the GRCC leaders to promote and drive positive organizational effectiveness and related cultural change initiatives that support the college’s commitment to being a premier quality community college.
- Lead the efforts of the Raider Learning System Leadership Team. In this capacity cultivate institutional support for professional development and ensure that professional development aligns with the strategic direction of the College.
- Oversee the Raider Learning System advisory team’s activities to include participation by all of the college’s employee groups. Faculty and staff have diverse roles and responsibilities for supporting student learning. Provide offerings and services that support the quality and consistency of learning opportunities to meet individual, departmental and institutional needs.
- Collaborate with the Instructional Support and Interdisciplinary Studies leadership, develop strategies to support and enhance student learning and to support the strategic cultivation of a campus where everyone shares focus on and responsibility for student success.
- Assist with long-range strategic planning; develop departmental budget, plans, policies and activities.
- Collaborate with the Diversity Learning Center leadership on its diversity curriculum offerings.
- Serve as a resource to other departments, managers and employees around proposed and needed learning needs, especially in relation to the Performance Management System.
- Design and/or oversee appropriate curriculum (use of technology in presentations, management, effective facilitation practices, leadership development, teambuilding, soft skills development and technology training) consistent with adult learning and instructional design principles.
- Oversee the organization and development of training manuals, reference materials, testing and evaluation procedures, multimedia visual aids, and other educational materials.
- Facilitate appropriate instructional procedures or methods such as individual training, group instruction, self-study, lectures, Blackboard, demonstrations, simulation exercises, role play, and computer-based training. Provide leadership and direction for long-range planning and design of large-scale systemic change programs.
- Oversee the development and communication of an annual calendar of employee learning opportunities.
- Select and evaluate outside trainers and training vendors to facilitate training for specific topics.
- Ensure assigned facilitators maintain effective techniques of adults learning theory and practices.
- Instruct in-house courses for employees as required.
- Develop performance measures and ensure assessment tools, criteria and program measures aligned to organizational performance objectives and successfully meet measurable outcomes.
- Prepare and deliver written and oral presentations to the President’s leadership team, College Leadership Council and other planning teams and forums to support GRCC’s development and achievement of the Strategic Plan.
- Provide data for the College dashboard performance measures.
- Maintains various records and creates summary reports of progress of the Learning Academy.
- Conduct special projects as requested and perform other tasks requested by the Vice President of Organizational Development.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Master’s degree from an accredited college or university with major course work in organizational development, organizational management, training and development, human resources, psychology or a related field and a minimum of seven years demonstrated leadership experience in Organizational Development, Faculty and/or Staff Professional Development or related career; or any equivalent combination of training and experience which provides the required knowledge, skills and abilities.
- Prior supervision and administrative experience.
- Prior experience with curriculum development and instructional design, adult learning theory, designing and developing participant-centered courses for both workshops and online instruction, including technology based employee learning programs and just-in-time learning.
- Prior Community College teaching experience and coursework in adult learning and development sufficient to earn the respect of the academic community highly desired.
- Prior experience with developing and conducting professional training.

- Experienced adult educator able to develop an effective curriculum and provide effective learning experiences based on current principles, practices and adult learning theory and practices to meet a wide variety of staff learning needs.
- A commitment to academic excellence and ability to build trust among faculty, administration and staff. Commitment and/or understanding of the Community College mission.
- Excellent oral and written communication skills, including a sense of humor and ability to relate well to all members of the educational community and build linkages throughout the institution.
- Ability to effectively use marketing techniques and to promote and enhance existing improvements of the Learning Academy.
- Must be people-focused and team oriented with demonstrated ability to work in a team-based, collaborative work environment.
- Proven group facilitation and presentation skills with ability to project a positive professional image.
- Proven appreciation and advocacy for diversity and diverse work situations.
- Ability to demonstrate creativity and innovation in his/her work. Demonstrated ability to research, analyze, and create transformational change organizational systems.
- Skills in word processing, spreadsheet applications and other training and development databases.
- Ability to maintain confidentiality, work independently and prioritize work.

SALARY:
Meet & Confer/Level 16 - Starting salary range of $90,259 to $95,337/year
