- Evaluating Staff and Organizational Development: This guide is designed to help you: more easily be able to assess or evaluate the effectiveness of your professional and organizational development programs by identifying the desired outcomes of the programs and determining whether they have occurred; make evaluation an ongoing part of your planning; use evaluation results to strengthen professional development at your institution; validate professional development as worthwhile and essential program.
- Engaging Students: Professional Development Resources for Learning-Centered Teaching Program: This publication is designed to provide developers with resources to use and adapt, ideas to consider and customize, and materials to discuss and determine how to use. Tear this book apart. Work with faculty to pull out workshops that make sense for your college. Examine the newsletter models, the bookmarks, the flyers. This book is supposed to give you some ideas, some resources to start with, and lots of material to adapt to your needs.
- Part-Time Faculty Handbook: A guide to putting together a faculty handbook for part time instructors, useful to check against your handbook or information provided to part-time faculty. - Launching Your Staff, Program, and Organizational Development Program: Written by Helen Burnstad and Cindy Hoss, this publication gives staff development professionals insights on starting and improving a staff development program. It takes you through the "12 Step Program to Success in Staff Development." Many examples of forms are included.
- In Search of Great Retreats: This publication is a compilation of resources in organizing this style of a participant-directed retreat. The format is based on the Great Teachers' format, but contributors to this publication show how the "teaching" format can be adapted to support staff and other groups as well. Bill Searle is the editor of this publication.
- Tools and Tips: A Collection of Practical Staff Development Opportunities and Ideas: This is a compendium of the Great Ideas for Training Staff (GIFTS). These are low/no-cost ideas to incorporate into your staff development program. Editor Bill Searle has compiled the information from our GIFTS presenters at several annual NCSPOD conferences.
- Classroom Assessment: A Manual for Faculty Developers: A practical guide to setting up and maintaining a classroom assessment/classroom feedback program on campus. Includes a bibliography of resources. The largest section is actual CATS which can be duplicated and used on campus. Useful for the developer new to classroom assessment and the developer looking for a particular CAT to help faculty member with a question.
- Learning Styles: Profesisonal Development Resources: This manual is designed to make it easy for faculty development professionals to implement a learning styles program at their institution. There is much discussion about ‘the learning college’ and ‘learning-centered teaching’ but far less discussion that helps individuals to determine how they think people learn and then to design instruction to fit that understanding.
- The Journal of Faculty Development: All current members of The North American Council for Staff, Program and Organizational Development are provided an online subscription to The Journal of Faculty Development, a refereed journal published three times annually to serve the needs and interests of faculty development practitioners and institutional researchers and planners. You may access all issues of the online journal through this page by clicking on the Journal heading above . As a NCSPOD member, you may also subscribe to the printed version of the journal at 30% of the regular subscription price of $52.00, or $36.40 annually if you prefer.
